I am dedicated to fostering and embracing one’s individuality through my teaching. As a queer Asian percussionist, I was told I should follow certain paths set by predecessors in the percussion community. Paths that might had worked on certain individual, but it’s not a “one-size-fits-all” situation. It wasn’t until my doctorate studied where I embrace who I am, and I experienced an exponential growth after I graduated.
I continue to spread this message across in my solo tour & masterclasses, through curated programs made up of my original commissions by a diverse group of composers, and standards in our repertoire
